Semester Test Policy

SEMESTER TEST POLICY
The No Semester Test Proposal that is set forth by the Secondary Teaching Staff is as follows:

AFFECTED STUDENTS: Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12

CRITERION: (The following criteria will be followed by each individual teacher of the student)

  • No more Than 2 Non-School Sponsored Excused Absences and 0 Unexcused Absences.
  • Class Grade Average of a B or Higher.

OR

  • A student with an A- in the class for the semester will have the option of waiving the attendance requirement if they have no unexcused absences.

OR

  • No more Than 2 Non-School Sponsored Excused Absences and 0 Unexcused Absences

ITED Criteria

  • Fall Semester – Increase from previous year’s scores on ITEDS in each tested content area (class) (English, Math Science, Social Studies); for all other classes show increase in two of the three areas: Reading Comprehension, Math Total, and Science
  • Spring Semester – Increase in current year’s scores on ITEDS in each tested content area (class) (English, Math Science, Social Studies); for all other classes show increase in two of the three areas: Reading Comprehension, Math Total, and Science
  • Must be maintain or increase to 50th percentile to be eligible
  • If at 90% & higher, maintaining scores in the 90th percentile).
    • Class Grade of a C or Higher.
    • School Sponsored = Extra-Curricular School Sponsored Activities that require the student to be absent from a class(es).
    • The high school principal will provide the teaching staff with a list of those students who have improved or maintained their 90% on ITED Assessments.
    • Attendance in classes is presently monitored by each teacher
    • Grading scales by teachers are equivalent district wide
    • Any UNEXCUSED ABSENCE will automatically default the student from the reward.
    • Students that have been suspended during the semester, in school or out of school, will be required to take all semester tests.
    • 1 Tardy more than 30 minutes is considered an Absence as indicated by the student planner on page 14.
    • 2 Tardies of less than 30 minutes will equal 1 Absence.
    • Any student meeting the criteria who desires to take the semester test can possibly raise their present grade, but not lower their present grade.
